Over the years, the Crandon Public Library has evolved from a set of glass enclosed shelves at the Forest County Courthouse to a storefront building to finally the landmark Hobbs building it now occupies at 110 West Polk Street. Today, in addition to funding through the City of Crandon and Forest County, the library depends on the Friends of the Crandon Library and the Crandon Public Library Foundation to support the operations and collections of the Crandon Public Library.

The Heart of our Community
Built in the year 2000, our new library now offers improved collection space, large meeting rooms and a public access computer room. While the Library Board of Trustees looks to public funds to provide the community with the basic level of library service, the Crandon Public Library aspires to offer its community lifetime learning opportunities, access to local history documents and an enhanced collection of both fiction and non-fiction materials for both juvenile and adult members of our community. The Crandon Public Library Foundation was created to encourage private donations and bequests that will support the operations and activities of the Crandon Public Library. Please consider supporting the Foundation either through a gift now, or through a bequest. With your help, the Crandon Public Library will continue to grow and serve generations of Crandon residents and visitors to the area.
The Gift of Giving
Examples of the types of gifts that can help support the mission of the Crandon Public Library Foundation
- A gift of cash, securities or property for immediate or future use by the Library.
- A bequest in your will or living trust to the Crandon Public Library Foundation.
- Beneficiary designations of life insurance or retirement plan proceeds.
- Gifts with retained income for yourself or others.
Unrestricted gifts enable the Library Foundation, along with the Library Board of Trustees, to survey its needs and use the earnings from these gifts where they are most needed. A donor may also choose to specify the purpose for which the gift is to be used, as long at that purpose is consistent with the goals and policies of the Crandon Public Library.
